Emergency planning is about the preparation for major emergencies and incidents that can happen unexpectedly and anywhere, such as floods, fires, chemical releases, transport accidents, and deliberate acts of violence. Emergency planning is carried out by all the major agencies, including the emergency services, local authorities, NHS trusts, Government departments, utilities and transport companies, and voluntary agencies.


The aim of emergency planning is to put appropriate arrangements and procedures in place that will enable each agency to respond to and manage major incidents in a timely, efficient and effective manner.  The Three Rivers Emergency Plan outlines how we would deal with a major incident or emergency in the district.

At a district level, the Three Rivers and Watford Local Emergency Planning Forum (LEPF) brings together local representatives of Hertfordshire Resilience agencies.
